A Family of Churches Building Bridges between God & Man, Between Our Churches & Between Churches & the Community

Director of Missions

Patterson’s Pen
I’ve heard from many of you who have been under the weather this winter. One day in early January when I was sick, I began to think of the phrase, “Jesus is a prayer away.” I wrote this little poem and hope it will bring a blessing to you:

 Though hard times come and hard times go,
Though difficulties ebb and flow
This will I always know,
Jesus is a prayer away

Though sun be covered by a cloud,
Though darkness descend like a shroud
Ever will my knees be bowed,
With Jesus a prayer away

Asked to go when I don't understand,
Led away when it's not my plan
Maneuvered by the Master's Hand,
Jesus is a prayer away

Though I'm tired and want to rest,
I know His way is always best
Oh, may I never fail the test,
With Jesus, a prayer away

Though culture call wrong - now right
Though hardships turn my day to night,
I'm called to walk by faith, not sight
With Jesus, a prayer away

How can I follow with sight so dim?
Is it pure fancy, just a whim?
Only sure way - to follow Him,
Jesus, a prayer away

Until I've had my day in the sun,
Until my race is finally run
Oh, help me, Lord, turn to the One,
Jesus, a prayer away

My vision limited - not your view;
You only call me to follow through
While holding closely onto you,
Jesus, a prayer away

I'll walk in victory today,
I'll choose to follow in His way,
For He gives power to stay;
Jesus, a prayer away

Takes half a second to call His name,
Only a moment, He's still the same;
Breathlessly lifting up my claim to
Jesus, a prayer away

Silently believing in His creed,
Calling on Him by word and deed;
Waiting as He meets the need,
Jesus, a prayer away

                                                         Love in Christ,
